I am not hugely overweight, but there are time when, after overindulging, I soon find that there are an extra 10lbs to 15lbs of that horrible bulge clinging to my midrift.
For this reason and, also, being a person who is very interested in food and nutrition, I would imagine I have been one of the best customers of diet products over the years.
Some of these products have not really been very good and they have only really been a mish mash of free information that can be found anywhere on the Internet.
One of the excellent products is without a doubt one of the best diet books (in my humble opinion) selling as an ebook on the Internet. Stop Counting Calories and Start Losing Weight, by Zoe Harcombe, has over 300 pages of no-nonsense easy to understand common sense, which also contains a whole bundle of recipes.
The diet is Not low-carb nor low calorie, it is not even low fat. In fact, Zoe encourages you to eat fat! The diet is in 3 phases, the toughest is phase1 but it only lasts 5 days and, after that, you can pretty much eat all that you want. There are NO RESTRICTIONS ON QUANTITIES of the foods thta Zoe recommends.
I have used the diet on a number of other occasions - It can be used for people like myself who sometimes go overboard, or equally as well by people who have more weight to lose. Many people have claimed to have lost 10lb or more in 5 days and the record seems to be 16lb in 5 days. Personally, I've lost over a stone (14lb) over a few months and just feel great. The best thing about this diet plan is that I can pretty much eat what I like in unlimited quantities. I'm never hungry and always have loads more energy than I have ever had before.
I highly recommend this book. As well as being available as a digital download, it's available UK as a paperback. Amazon in the USA also shows it as available but it's currently delivered from the UK. If you want to get your hands on a copy quickly, I'd suggest going for the digital download .

I never write reviews for the diet books I read (there have been a lot) but this one deserves a review. I didn't buy this book because I needed to lose weight I bought it because I WAS a sugar junkie. I was skeptical at first about phase 1 as I have tried Atkins before and failed but was pleased to see that phase 1 included salad, vegetables and brown rice so I decided to give it a go. OH MY GOD it works! I lost 2lbs in 5 days and if I can lose weight on this at my size anybody can (BMI 20). The best thing of all is the affect on my sugar cravings my initial cravings did drive me crazy in the first two days as Zoe warns but now they are totally under control. This book has made me realise why I always felt that I was fighting my appetite and all my thoughts were consumed by sugar. If you are a sugar junkie buy this book, if you want to lose weight definitely buy this book!
A Diet That Works. Ms E Macleod
I bought this book after it being recommended by a friend. The diet has worked well for me, although I did find the book a bit repeatative on the reasons why you should eat the way the author recommends. The book clearly states what to eat and what not to eat and when. The 1st 5 days are quite difficult...but were very worthwhile for me as I lost 8lbs. I've continued onto phase 2 and have lost a stone overall. There are also a few recipes at the end of the book which I also found useful.
If you're like me and can't be bothered counting calories and want to eat proper food, this diet could be the one for you.

his recipe book is full of ideas I would not have come up with myself to bring variety into the complementary Harcombe Diet book. Makes the diet itself more interesting for those of us, like me, who are in for the long haul.

My Wife & I found this book very good & she loves the recipes, me to but only the eating part, we've been on it for about a month & I've lost about 8-10 lbs (I seem to fluctuate a little) & I've not stuck rigidly to it but almost have, there is a lot of repeated stuff in this book thats in the diet book & the book itself constantly repeats like a mantra, I think both books could have been edited very easily into one. We'll be staying with it though.
